The German national preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 1964 took place on January 11, 1964 in Frankfurt am Main . It was moderated by Hilde Nocker . For the first time in the history of the German preliminary rounds, the preliminary round was entitled Ein Lied für ..., supplemented by the respective host city of the hit competition, in this case Copenhagen .
The hr commissioned the six best-placed composers from last year's preliminary decision, the Heidi Brühl sings program , to write titles for this year.
There were ten “professional” jurors who could each award five points, and 50 lay people who could each award one point. In the end, however, only the three best places were published.
