Peter Krämer (theologian)

Peter Krämer (born February 19, 1942 in Dankerath ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian and emeritus professor of canon law at the Trier Theological Faculty and diocesan judge for the Trier diocese .

Life

After graduating from the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Gymnasium in Trier in 1961, Krämer entered the Episcopal Seminary in Trier and in the same year began studying theology and philosophy at the Trier Theological Faculty. He finished the same in 1967, after a temporary stay at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg , with a licentiate . Before that he was ordained a priest on July 31, 1966 in the Church of Our Lady in Trier. He then worked from 1967 to 1968 as a chaplain in Saarbrücken . Before doing his doctorate in theology at the Trier Theological Faculty in 1972, Krämer studied canon law at the Gregoriana in Rome from 1968 to 1970 .

In 1973 he received a habilitation grant from the German Research Foundation and completed his habilitation in 1976, after a brief activity as an assistant at the canonical law seminar of the theological faculty in Bonn. Thereupon he received several teaching assignments in Münster, Tübingen and Bonn until he was appointed adjunct professor for canon law at the theological faculty of the University of Bonn in 1979 . A year later he was given a chair for canon law and ecclesiastical legal history at the Catholic University of Eichstätt . In 1997 he was appointed professor for canon law at the Trier Theological Faculty . In 2010 he was released.

Since 1984 Krämer has also been a judge at the diocesan court in the Diocese of Trier. From 1995 to 2004 he was chairman of the Working Group for Catholic Church Law in the Federal Republic of Germany . On November 30, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI appointed Chandler as honorary prelate.

His students include Sabine Demel and Ludger Müller .

His brother Karl Krämer was Vice President of the Supervision and Service Directorate (ADD) in Trier.
