Peter Friedrich Wilhelm Kraus (born July 17, 1932 in Berlin ; † January 15, 2016 in Straßlach-Dingharting ) was a German sprinter .

biography

In 1949 Peter Kraus started athletics. Without training, he started at a sports festival in Bad Tölz over 100 meters, which he ran in 11.7 seconds. Then he joined VfL Munich . A year later he became German youth champion over 100 meters with a time of 11.0 seconds .

After Kraus won silver over 100 meters and gold over 200 meters at the German Championships in 1951 , he took part in the 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki . He started over 200 meters and started in the 4 x 100 meter relay . Over 200 meters he was eliminated in the quarter-finals and in the relay in the preliminary stages.

Two years later he started at the European Championships in the 4 x 100 meter relay . However, this was disqualified in the run-up.

Kraus was married to the high jumper Antonie Butz . His father was the owner of a horse stud, which is why Kraus was also active as a jockey on the side .
