Peter Kraus (born November 27, 1986 in Neunkirchen , Lower Austria ) is an Austrian politician ( GREEN ). Kraus has been a member of his party to the Vienna City Council and State Parliament since November 2015 .

Peter Kraus ran for the election as the top candidate of the Vienna Greens for the election to the 21st state parliament in Vienna , which should take place in October 2020 at the latest, and was defeated by Birgit Hebein . In the run-up to the election, he published his manuscript "I do care" online , in which he wrote down his thoughts and motivations.

Life

Peter Kraus attended elementary school in Pottschach and then the Bundesrealgymnasium in Neunkirchen, where he passed his Matura in 2005 . He then moved to Vienna , where he began studying political science at the University of Vienna . From 2006, Kraus began to study economics and socio-economics at the Vienna University of Economics and Business . In 2013 he received his Bachelor of Science .

From November 2010 to August 2015, Kraus was Deputy Office Manager of the Green Deputy Mayor Maria Vassilakou . Also in 2010, he moved into the district council of Vienna's 20th district of Brigittenau as a district councilor .

Kraus is an LGBT activist who has been the Viennese spokesman for Grüne Andersrum since 2013 . From May 2009 to November 2010 he was also a consultant for LGBT affairs at the Green Town Hall Club.

Kraus moved in as a member of the Vienna State Parliament and City Council in November 2015. Since then he has been Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Finance, Economics, Digitization and International Affairs.

On August 19, 2018, Kraus announced that he would be running in the top election of the Vienna Greens .
