Geliebter Mörder is a German crime film by Christiane Balthasar commissioned by the rbb in 2008. It is the 291st episode in the film series Polizeiruf 110 and the twelfth case for master master Horst Krause and the eighth case for his partner Johanna Herz.
action
Brigitte Pohl reports her daughter Maria as missing. Inspector Johanna Herz and her colleague, Chief Master Horst Krause, are looking for the child in the forest. Krauses dog Vera strikes and Marie's dog is found lying dead in a shelter .
In the prison, Herz informs himself about the criminal Jens Schrader, who is to be released shortly after successful therapy . He was sentenced to a pedophile offense for eight years and has recently been on leave to prepare for post-imprisonment. Johanna Herz is convinced that Schrader kidnapped twelve-year-old Marie and possibly even murdered her. However, his therapist explains to her which therapies they are working with in the clinic and that he is convinced that Schrader is no longer dangerous. He received medication that would reduce his sex drive to almost zero.
In the meantime, Krause asks Marie's friends whether they know where the girl could be. One of the children says she called her mother's friend to be picked up, but in the end she took the bus. Marie's mother separated from her husband and now lives with Frank Tornow, who works in the clinic where Schrader is treated. Krause also speaks to Marie's father, whom he knows personally. Jürgen Pohl thinks that Frank Tornow could have done something to his daughter. The two did not get along and Maria was in his way.
It's been three days since the child's disappearance and the police are on the spot with their investigations. Both suspects have an alibi for the time of Maria's disappearance, whereby Commissioner Herz's that of Schrader does not seem valid. He also has a fiancée who confirmed to her that they would both sleep together, which makes Herz think.
After a car was recovered in the town's bathing lake, which after a check belongs to Frank Tornow, he comes under massive suspicion. However, he claims to have recently sold his car to Jens Schrader. He is then carefully observed in the hope of finding Marie still alive. Johanna Herz takes this case with her, because she has only just become a grandmother herself. Marie's hiding place is actually found in Schrader's vacant parental home. Schrader has holed up with her in the basement and takes his own life when the police arrive. Shortly before, he had confessed to his fiancée that he had met the child in the woods. He didn't want to hurt her, but when suddenly people approached he was scared because he knew what they would think. He was afraid that all the last few years of therapy would be in vain.
Marie can be freed relatively unharmed.

criticism
Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv appreciates: “A somewhat strenuous resolution of the case is the price for an unusually sensitive crime thriller with a high level of empathy, which traces everyday life and allows itself the luxury of taking time and getting along with very few suspects. Christiane Balthasar succeeds well in immersing the tense, increasingly depressing mood in atmospheric images. The ending is politically correct and it is a good thing. Author Daniela Mohr is not interested in defaming modern sex therapy, nor is she careless about the fears of parents who want their children to be protected. "
The critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm gave the best possible rating (thumbs up) and wrote: “Case developed with great relevance to everyday life.” Their overall conclusion was: “Coherent, with a surprising finale”.
