Peter Lang

Peter Klaus Lang (born August 17, 1964 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian conductor and son of Gerhard, former Kapellmeister of the Vienna Boys' Choir and unit manager at ORF , and Melitta Lang.

Life

Peter Lang completed his studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna on January 20, 1988 in the subjects of music education and instrumental music education with a focus on singing and conducting (with Herwig Reiter, Helmuth Froschauer , Erwin Ortner ). He made his debut as a conductor on June 13, 1983 with the “ Coronation Mass ” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart .

Between 1986 and 1989 Peter Lang was employed as a conductor and choir teacher with the “ Vienna Boys' Choir ”. In 1988 he took over as artistic director of the choir association “Singkreis Cantate Domino”, from which the “Choir Curiositas” later developed, which to this day mainly performs in Vienna under his direction. In addition, between 1989 and 1991 Peter Lang was the choir director of the “Wiener Männergesangverein”.

Between 1994 and 1995 he took over the management of the “Mozart Boys' Choir”, but in 1995 this choir disbanded. In the same year Peter Lang founded the successor choir “Amadeus Knabenchor Wien”, which was renamed the Mozart Knabenchor Wien in 2006 . With this choir he still tours Europe, Asia, South America and the whole world.

Peter Lang has been teaching voice training at the Vienna Conservatory since 1991 and also holds specialist seminars for children's voices and choirs. Although he is regularly invited by various choirs to conduct larger works, he has also been the artistic director of the church choir of the Leopoldau parish since 2008 .

Peter Lang is married to Andrea Lang (née Amon). You have three children.

His repertoire is mainly classical, but he also performs many works by living composers. For example by: Ivan Eröd, Herwig Reiter, Gerhard Track. Many of the works that he performs were (are) also set by him.
