Peter Marshall (born March 9, 1982 in Gainesville , Florida ) is an American swimmer .

Marshall particularly favors the 100 meter supine position. He is particularly successful on the short course. In 2004 he set a new short course world record over this distance for the first time in 00: 50.32 minutes before Ryan Lochte improved this to under 50 seconds for the first time at the 2006 Short Course World Championships in Shanghai . In the fall of 2008, Marshall got this world record back and improved it to 00: 49.63 minutes.
