Peter Michael Lynen

Peter Michael Lynen (born November 7, 1948 in Aachen ) is a German lawyer , lecturer at the Cologne University of Music and Dance and head of the Center for International Art Management (CIAM).

Life

Lynen studied law at the Universities of Mainz and Munich . In 1973 he passed the first and in 1976 the second state examination in law. At the University of Cologne he did his doctorate. iur. with a dissertation on "Broadcasting as a university task, legal questions of university broadcasting with special consideration of the legal situation in North Rhine-Westphalia" and later received an honorary doctorate as Dr. phil. at the Robert Schumann University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf .

From 1976 to 1982 Lynen worked at RWTH Aachen University , the University of Bonn and for the secretariat of the Conference of Ministers of Education in Bonn . He was then appointed Chancellor at the Düsseldorf Art Academy until 2008 , and from 1987 to 1990 he was also acting part-time as acting chancellor at the Robert Schumann University in Düsseldorf and in 1996 at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. From 2005 Lynen received a part-time position as professor at the Cologne University of Music and Dance and from 2008 until his retirement in the summer semester 2014 a full-time position and took over the management of the Center for International Art Management located there.

Lynen has been a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and the Arts and Secretary of the Arts Class and thus Vice President of the Academy since 2009 . Peter Lynen advises and works in various German and foreign institutions of science and art. His focus in research, teaching and further education is the law and management of art and science. Since June 2014 Lynen has been working as a lawyer specializing in art and science law at the Cologne law firm Dr. Mahmoudi & Partner Rechtsanwälte. In addition, he has held an honorary professorship in cultural management in Tianjin , China, since 2015 and in 2016 took over an interim chancellorship at the University of the Arts in Bremen .
