Peter Niggli

Peter Niggli (born July 10, 1950 in Zurich ) is a Swiss journalist and publicist in the field of development policy .

Life

Niggli completed an A-Matura at the Freudenberg Gymnasium in Zurich in 1969 and studied mathematics , philosophy and history at the University of Zurich from 1970 to 1976 . In the wake of the sixty-eight movement , he was the leader of the Revolutionary Organizational Organization in Zurich (RAZ) from 1969 to 1976 . In 1979 Niggli was co-author of the book Die unheimlichen Patrioten , which gave a comprehensive overview of right-wing and right-wing radical movements and people in Switzerland from a politically left-wing perspective.

From 1976 to 1981 he was active as a journalist for the two Zurich alternative media «focus» and «ropress». From 1982 to 1998 he worked as a freelance journalist for various media. In addition to domestic and economic policy issues, he concentrated on development policy, particularly with regard to Africa, Sudan and Ethiopia . In this area he was also active with lectures and publications; he also carried out a study and was an election observer in Ethiopia. From 1990 to 1996 he was a member of the Green Party on the Zurich municipal council . In 1994 he was in charge of media work for the campaign for the racism penal norm . Between 1998 and 2015 he was Managing Director of Alliance Sud .

He is part of the initiative committee of the corporate responsibility initiative .
