Peter Paul (born February 20, 1911 in Berlin , † October 5, 1985 in Munich ) was a German actor .

biography

After graduating from high school, he attended the drama school of the German Theater in Berlin from 1932 to 1934 . He made his debut in Goethe's Faust in 1934 as a pupil at the Elbing City Theater . There he was engaged as a young comedian until 1935.

From 1935 to 1937 Paul was employed at the Stadttheater Glogau . He played here in Avery Hopwood's The Model Husband and as Babbs in Charley's Aunt . In 1937 he moved to the Meiningen Theater , to which he belonged until 1940. Here he played the role of Dr. in the comedy Honeymoon by Paul Hellwig in 1938. Stiebel.

From 1940 to 1943 he was the first batch of the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf . He spent the period from 1941 to 1945 as a soldier in World War II and subsequent imprisonment. From 1945 to 1946 he worked as a character comedian in Eßlingen am Neckar .

From 1946 to 1949 he was a member of the ensemble at the Deutsches Theater Göttingen . There he embodied Kalb in Kabale und Liebe , Fluth in Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor , the landlord in Minna von Barnhelm and Voigt in Der Hauptmann von Köpenick . From 1949 to 1950 he played at the Wiesbaden State Theater and from 1950 to 1951 at the Kassel State Theater . In Kassel he was seen as Loman in Death of a Salesman and as Malvolio in Was ihr wollt .

From 1951 Paul played at the Landestheater Hannover , for example as John in Die Ratten , Praise in JM Barries Johannisnacht and Queeg in Die Caine was her fate . Later he was a member of the ensemble at the Münchner Kammerspiele . As an acting teacher, he passed his experience on to young artists. He also worked for radio, film, and television.

Peter Paul, who last lived in Unterhaching , died on October 5, 1985 in Munich. He was buried in an urn grave at the Perlacher Forst cemetery.
