Leslie Darwin is an aging elderly man who works as Santa Claus in a department store. In his work he is always occupied with questions about the authenticity and belief of children in Santa Claus. Leslie thinks back to his childhood, to his father, to the war, to his wife, to his later career. He looks back on a difficult life, which he has behind him and which eventually led him into alcoholism.
