Peter Peschel (born January 26, 1972 in Prudnik , Poland ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Peter Peschel came to the Federal Republic of Germany at the age of five as a member of a resettled family and grew up in Bönen , where he also began playing football. From 1989 to 2001 he played at VfL Bochum in the first and second division . In 2001 he went to MSV Duisburg , in 2002 he played for SSV Jahn Regensburg . In 2003 he went back to Duisburg and ended his professional career there at the end of the 2004 season. In the 2004/05 season he was active for Tennis Borussia Berlin and in the 2007/08 season he still played for the national division SSV Mühlhausen-Uelzen at the side of his nephew Sebastian Pannek . Both played a significant role in Mühlhausen's ascent into the Westphalia League.

At the age of 18 he scored the 2-1 winning goal against Borussia Mönchengladbach in his first Bundesliga game. His greatest sporting success was reaching the 1997 UEFA Cup with VfL Bochum after finishing 5th in the 1996/97 Bundesliga season . To date, he is the best goalscorer in VfL Bochum's club history in the second division. In 2016 he was voted into the legendary team of VfL Bochum by the fans. Since then he has had his own column at the Ruhrstadion .

After the career

Peschel holds the UEFA A license. He has been running a soccer school for children between the ages of 6 and 14 since October 2012. The locations of this soccer school are Bochum (Soccerhalle Zoca's), Dortmund (Soccer City Center) and Recklinghausen (Soccerhalle Zoca's).

Private

He currently lives in Bochum with his wife and two sons. Peschel was married to the gymnast Magdalena Brzeska , with whom he has two daughters.
