Peter Redeker (* 1942 in Spital am Semmering ) is an Austro-German painter, graphic artist and university professor. He lives and works in Germany, Italy and Morocco.
Life
Redeker was born in Styria , came to Germany in 1943 and grew up in Barntrup . After graduating from high school in Lemgo in 1963 , he studied education at the University of Hamburg and with Kai Sudeck at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts (HFBK). In 1967 he passed his teaching exam and continued his studies of fine art at the HFBK. In 1968/1969 he received a scholarship from the Reemtsma Begabtenförderungswerk , and in 1970 he spent a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service and the Dutch government at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam. He then worked until 1975 as a research assistant for fine arts at the Vechta department of the University of Osnabrück . From 1975 he taught at the Hanover University of Applied Sciences as a professor for free graphics until the fine arts department was dissolved in 2008. He lives in Hanover and Volterra (Italy).
Exhibitions
Redeker has shown his works in a large number of exhibitions since 1969, including 1975 in the pavilion of the Overbeck Society of the Museum for Art and Cultural History in Lübeck and the Kunsthalle Bremen , 1988 in the Kunsthalle Darmstadt , 1991/1992 in the Palazzo dei Priori in Perugia and in galleries and exhibitions of art associations in Germany, Austria, Sweden, the Netherlands, Denmark, Poland and the USA.
Works in collections
Redeker's works are in public collections, for example in the graphic collection of the Albertina in Vienna, in the Hessisches Landesmuseum Darmstadt , in the Altonaer Museum , in the Staatliche Graphische Sammlung Munich and in the Emslandmuseum Schloss Clemenswerth . Redeker is also represented in the private collection of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands.
