Peter L. Reichertz

Peter Leo Reichertz (born September 20, 1930 in Speicher ; † August 6, 1987 ) was a physician and university lecturer / professor in the field of medical informatics .

Life

Peter L. Reichertz studied physics , mathematics and medicine at the Universities of Göttingen , Cologne , Geneva , Munich and Bonn . He then did his doctorate as Dr. med. and qualified as a professor in internal medicine . His main scientific activity during this time was in the field of cardiology . Between 1966 and 1969 Reichertz headed, among other things, the radiological computer research at the universities of Texas and Missouri . In 1969 Peter L. Reichertz was appointed professor at the Hannover Medical School in order to set up the Hannover Medical System (MSH). Five years later (1974) he founded the Institute for Medical Informatics there. From 1975 to 1988 he also had a teaching position at the TU Braunschweig .

He was the first President of the European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI).

Peter L. Reichertz Institute for Medical Informatics

The institute was founded in 2007 by the Technical University Carolo-Wilhelmina in Braunschweig and the Hannover Medical School with two locations in Braunschweig and Hannover . The founding goal was the formation of a regional cluster of excellence .
