Peter Richter (writer)
Peter Richter (born July 8, 1973 in Dresden ) is a German writer and publicist who mainly writes about architecture, art and design.
Life
Peter Richter was born in Dresden and grew up in the Loschwitz district . He attended evening classes at the College of Fine Arts and passed his Abitur at the Kreuzschule in 1992 . After a few weeks, he broke off training as an offset printer to work and study as a journalist. He completed his studies of art history in Hamburg and Madrid in 1998 with a master's thesis on Spanish baroque painting . He did his doctorate in 2006 at the University of Hamburg with the topic The prefabricated building as a crisis area under Martin Warnke . In the meantime, he had completed a journalistic traineeship at Deutschlandfunk and Deutschlandradio , worked for the Süddeutsche Zeitung and finally joined the features section of the FAZ . Until the end of 2011 he was in charge of the arts and architecture in the features section of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung . In addition, he moderated the magazine "Galerie" on Deutschlandradio for five years, he also wrote a column for the art magazine Monopol ("Richter Scale") and published several non-fiction books on the border with fiction and a novel on the border with non-fiction. His essay “Blooming Landscapes” from 2004 had the same name as a column he wrote for the FAS between 2003 and 2007, but had little to do with it in terms of content. From April 2009 to the end of March 2010, he published a weekly video column called "Judgment" on the FAZ website. The current new video column is called "Richter Scale". Since September 17, 2009 he has appeared on the late-night show " Harald Schmidt ". From summer 2012 to 2017 Peter Richter reported from New York as a cultural correspondent for the Süddeutsche Zeitung . Since then he has been reporting from Berlin.
