Peter Rohr
Peter Rohr (born April 8, 1881 in Daruvár , Kingdom of Hungary , Austria-Hungary , † February 18, 1956 in Reșița , People's Republic of Romania ) was a Romanian-German composer and conductor .
Life
The farmer's son attended elementary school in his home village and became a member of the local boys' band. In 1895 he came as troops boy 43. Karansebescher infantry regiment to White Kirchener military band, where he from the military bandmaster Johann Karl was promoted and the cello - and Euphoniumspiel learned. Karl took him to Vienna, where he was employed as a cellist at the Theater an der Wien in 1898 .
In 1902 he followed a call to Reschitza and became a member of the Reschitza factory band, in 1907 he became second Kapellmeister at Otto Sýkora’s side , and from 1930 until his resignation in 1938 he was first Kapellmeister. He expanded the orchestra and, in collaboration with the choral society, performed works such as Ludwig van Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and the operas The Barber of Seville , Tosca , Cavalleria rusticana and The Bajazzo . His own works include a. the Small German Sunday Mass and the Missa Jubilet .
