Peter Rzehak (born February 8, 1970 in Brixlegg ) is a former Austrian ski racer . The career of the downhill and super-G specialist was repeatedly interrupted by injuries. His greatest success was second place in the Hahnenkamm Downhill in 1999.
Peter Rzehak won bronze in the downhill and super-G at the Junior World Championship in 1988. In 1990 he contested his first World Cup race in Schladming . Overall, he achieved five podium places in 96 appearances in the World Cup (4 downhill, 1 super-G). At the Olympic Games or World Championships he was part of the ÖSV team from time to time, but was never used in racing because he could not prevail against the strong Austrian competition or was so injured in training at the 1996 World Cup that he was taken to hospital had to.
Rzehak was denied major successes mainly because of numerous injuries. During his career he suffered three cruciate ligament tears , a patellar tendon tear , a broken thumb and a shoulder dislocation . In spring 2004 he announced his retirement from active sport due to the consequences of an injury.
