Peter Schlotter

Peter Schlotter (* 1945 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German political scientist . He was Professor of International Relations at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg , where he continues to teach and research after retirement.

Professional biography

After studying history , political science and German at the universities of Munich and Heidelberg, Schlotter passed the state examination for teaching at grammar schools in 1972. In 1974 he received his doctorate from the University of Frankfurt am Main . He then worked for 31 years as a research assistant at the Hessian Foundation for Peace and Conflict Research (PRIF) in Frankfurt am Main and was a member of the HFSK board several times. In addition, he had lectureships at the University of Frankfurt and headed research projects. In 1990 he was a member of the planning staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the GDR in East Berlin as a “West Advisor” .

In 1996/1997 Schlotter was a substitute professor for political science at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Frankfurt, in 1997 he completed his habilitation at the Technical University of Darmstadt and was then a private lecturer in the Faculty of Social and Historical Sciences there until 2002. In 2002 he became an adjunct professor in Darmstadt, and in the 2005 summer semester he became professor for international relations at the Institute for Political Science at Heidelberg University . He has been retired since 2010.

From 2002 to 2008 he was chairman of the Working Group for Peace and Conflict Research (AFK).
