Gert Krell

Gert Krell (born July 1, 1945 in Darmstadt ) is a German political scientist and professor of international politics at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .

Life

After completing school in Darmstadt, Krell studied English , history and political science for teaching at the University of Cologne and Philipps University in Marburg and graduated in 1971 with the state examination in Marburg. He then moved to the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt, where he worked as a research assistant at the Hessian Foundation for Peace and Conflict Research (PRIF), which his former lecturer at Marburg University, Ernst-Otto Czempiel , co-founded in 1970 , and continued with international students Relations and Security Policy and received his doctorate in 1976. At the same time he was teaching at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . He then worked as a lecturer at Frankfurt University, followed by a close collaboration with Czempiel. In 1981 he moved to the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London , where he was a member until 1984. In the same year he completed his habilitation in the politicalological department of international relations at the University of Giessen. At the same time, Krell continued to work for PRIF until 1995 and was temporarily managing director of the foundation and head of various research groups. Since 1995, Krell has been Professor of International Politics at Frankfurt University and has since been dean of the department. Krell has been retired since February 2006 .

Krell deals with the political science sub-discipline of International Relations (IB). His special focus is on the international peace and security problem and the East-West conflict . He also deals with the foreign and security policy of the United States and Germany as well as the Middle East conflict .

Since the 1990s, Krell has been working increasingly on the analysis of theories of international relations. His work Weltbilder und Weltordnung. An introduction to the theory of international relations. is regarded as the standard work of German IB teaching.

As a reviewer, he had warned the TU Braunschweig that Margarita Mathiopoulos ' dissertation was plagiarism.
