Peter Szech (born May 26, 1953 in Essen ; † March 3, 2014 in Neuss ) was a German football player who played in the forward position .

Career

Schwarz-Weiß Essen and VfR Neuss

Szech started his career at Schwarz-Weiß Essen in 1972 . After he had not been considered in the first two seasons, he played his first professional game on August 3, 1974 in a 0-0 win against VfL Wolfsburg . This season he played twelve games in which Szech did not score a goal. He then moved to VfR Neuss in his hometown for three years .

Bayer Leverkusen

For the 1978/79 season , Peter Szech moved to the then second division club Bayer 04 Leverkusen . After his debut on the first matchday against Fortuna Köln (3-1), he developed as a regular player. He scored 15 goals in 37 games in his first season and was promoted to the Bundesliga with Bayer . Szech made his debut there in the 3-1 defeat on the first day of the 1979/80 season against FC Bayern Munich . In the following seasons he remained a regular player and scored 39 goals in 130 games for the "Werkself". His two most important goals were the 2-1 win in the second leg of the relegation of the 1981/82 season against Kickers Offenbach , which prevented his club from being relegated from the Bundesliga.

Bayer 05 Uerdingen

For the 1982/83 season , Peter Szech moved to the second division Bayer 05 Uerdingen , where he also became a regular player immediately. He scored seven goals in 27 games and helped the team move up to the Bundesliga . In his second season, however, he was no longer used, which is why he changed the club again.

Return to Essen

During the winter break of the 1983/84 season , he joined Rot-Weiss Essen . Here, however, he only played the matches between the 20th and 25th matchday and scored two goals. His last professional game on February 25, 1984 was the 1-1 draw against MSV Duisburg , in which he scored the equalizer.

Next life

Szech lived on a farm in Thailand for 20 years and died in March 2014 as a result of a motorcycle accident.
