Peter Trooboff

Peter Dennis Trooboff (born  June 22, 1942 in Baltimore ) is an American lawyer . He has been a partner at Covington & Burling LLP , headquartered in Washington, DC , since 1975 , working primarily in the field of international law . The American Society for International Law awarded him the Manley O. Hudson Medal in 2018 in recognition of his work .

Life

Peter Trooboff was 1942 in Baltimore born and gained in 1964 a BA degree at Columbia University , in 1967 a Bachelor of Laws at Harvard University and in 1968 a Master of Laws degree at the London School of Economics . In the same year he also received a diploma from the Hague Academy for International Law , at which he later taught himself and was director of studies and a member of the board of trustees.

Since 1969 he is in Washington, DC for the law firm Covington & Burling LLP worked since 1975 as a partner of the firm. His work focuses on international trade , finance and investment law , criminal defense in the field of white-collar crime and international arbitration .

From 1990 to 1992 he was President of the American Society for International Law . Between 1996 and 2005 and 2013 he was a member of the delegations from his home country to the Hague Conference on Private International Law .

Peter Trooboof has been married since 1969.

Awards

Peter Trooboff received the Leonard J. Theberge Award for international private law from the American Bar Association in 2010 and the Manley O. Hudson Medal, the highest award of the American Society for International Law, in 2018 .
