Peter Welz (born December 1, 1972 in Lauingen - 47 years and 275 days old) is a German video artist who lives and works in Berlin .

Life

Peter Welz is one of the up-and-coming artists on the Berlin art scene. He was educated at the National College of Art and Design (Dublin), Chelsea College of Art and Design (London) and Cooper Union (New York). On the one hand, his artistic works are known for their kinetic experimental arrangements, on the other hand, the cinematic plays a central role. In addition to questions about the status of the image, the sculptural and the question of the relationship between image and space, aspects of the figurative in particular have recently shaped his work. Welz's artistic work also reflects his engagement with Samuel Beckett . He also became known for a five-part video installation that was created in close collaboration with the choreographer William Forsythe . Works by Peter Welz are among others. a. in the Goetz Collection, the Falckenberg Collection and in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in Frankfurt.
