Peter Wippermann (born September 19, 1949 in Hamburg ) is a German trend researcher . He was professor for communication design at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen.

biography

After an apprenticeship as typesetter and work in his father's graphic design studio and as a layouter for the magazine specifically (1979/80), he became art director at Rowohlt Verlag and ZEITmagazin . In 1988 he founded the Hamburg office of the Society for Communication Design together with Jürgen Kaffer and Peter Kabel . From 1990 he was editor of the future magazine “Übermorgen” of the cigarette manufacturer Philip Morris , for the same company he designed the future event “Talk with Tomorrow”. In 1992, together with Matthias Horx , he founded the Trendbüro Hamburg, a consulting company for social change.

From 1993 to 2015 he was Professor of Editorial Design in the Communication Design course at the Folkwang University in Essen (at that time the course was still located at the University of Essen). In 1999 he set up the Academy of Visual Language Foundation together with Horst Wackerbarth. 2002 co-founder of the LeadAcademy for media design and media marketing. Peter Wippermann is a member of the advisory board of the Nestlé Zukunftsforum (NZF), as well as a member of the advisory board of the Association of the Food Industry, co-publisher “Year of Advertising”, Econ Verlag and board member of the Efficiency Club of Business, Zurich
