Peterle and the Christmas Goose Auguste is a short film from DEFA - Studio for Feature Films from 1964 (started on December 17, 1964) and is the first of the film implementations to be based on the story Die Christmas Goose Auguste by Friedrich Wolf . With this diploma film, the director Rainer Simon completed his studies at what was then the German Academy for Film Art .
action
Peterle throws snow from the sidewalk into the open window of his sisters' room and is prompted by his mother to come in immediately. Meanwhile, his father buys a goose at the Christmas market and brings it home alive. The children stroke them, love them and they, like the parents, have gotten so used to the animal that the father is unable to slaughter “Guste”. An attempt to anesthetize with sleeping pills also fails because the goose, which has already been plucked, wakes up. Finally she gets a knitted suit for Christmas, with which Peterle proudly takes his "Guste" for a walk.
