Petr Cancura

Petr Cancura (born April 23, 1977 ) is a Canadian woodwind player ( saxophone , flute , clarinet ), also vocals , guitar and banjo .

Cancura, who comes from the Czech Republic and lived in Ottawa from the age of ten, worked in Canada and studied at Carlton University before continuing his studies in Boston at the New England Conservatory of Music . In New York City he played a. a. with Danilo Pérez , Julian Lage , Bob Moses , Joe Morris , Jacek Kochan , Kathleen Edwards , Kenny Wollesen , Joe Maneri , Cecil McBee , Rob Mosher and Mighty Popo , also with his own band projects Big Sky and Down Home . In 2009 he presented the album PeopleMusic . Cancura is the program director of the Ottawa International Jazz Festival and has held workshops in the United States and Canada. Cancura participated in ten recording sessions from 2003 to 2012.
