Rob Mosher

Rob Mosher (* 1980 ) is a Canadian musician ( alto saxophone , soprano saxophone , oboe , flute , English horn , composition ) of modern jazz , who is also active in the field of classical music .

Live and act

Mosher has a degree in music from the University of Toronto and has attended the Banff International Jazz and Creative Music Workshop. He has worked in Toronto since the early 2000s a. a. in the MRC Trio ( That Magic Thread , 2003) and in the quintet Marianne Trudel. In the mid-2000s, he moved to New York City, where he worked as a leader and sideman. He played with Kevin Brow, Jeff Fairbanks' Project Hansori, Max Seigel ( siphonophore ) and the Awakening Orchestra in New York . In 2008, Mosher recorded his debut album The Tortoise , which featured Micah Killion, Mike Fahie, Sam Sadigursky , Peter Hess, Brian Landrus , Nir Felder , Garth Stevenson and Ziv Ravitz .

In his music project Storytime , Mosher processed reminiscences of Wayne Shorter , Gil Evans , Kurt Weill , Darius Milhaud , Claude Debussy and Bach . Mosher's other musical projects are the Rob Mosher String Quartet, a classic ensemble with soprano saxophone instead of the second violin, a classic duo with soprano saxophone and soprano opera voice. Mosher also performed as a freelance oboist and as a jazz sideman. From 2005 to 2006 he was principal oboist in the Brooklyn Conservatory Orchestra and from 2001 to 2004 a member of the 40 Fingers Saxophone Quartet .

In the field of jazz, according to Tom Lord , he was involved in eleven recording sessions between 2003 and 2017, including with the singer-songwriter Stephanie Nilles . As a musician, he appeared in the short film Brooklyn Bazaar (2012) by Bryan Parker. In 2009 he received the ASCAP Young Composer Award.
