Garth Stevenson

Garth Stevenson (born September 17, 1982 in Kelowna , British Columbia ) is a Canadian jazz and improvisation musician ( double bass , electronics, arrangement ) and film composer .

Live and act

Garth Stevenson studied at Berklee College of Music ; during this time he worked in Boston a. a. with Bob Moses , Joe Lovano , George Garzone and John Lockwood . With the pianist Marcin Masecki and the drummer Ziv Ravitz he founded the trio ZAQ . After graduating in 2004, he moved to New York, where he has since worked in various projects in the improvisation and experimental scene. a. with Sonya Kitchell , John Shannon , Mat Maneri , Ryan Ferreira and Petr Cancura . He has also performed as a soloist, incorporating live electronics (such as loops). He worked on various film projects and appeared at American and European festivals, including a. also on television shows by David Letterman and Craig Fergusson . In 2007 he presented his debut solo album Alpine . From 2010 he worked with the meditation teacher Elena Brower, with performances in the Museum of Modern Art and in Central Park . In the field of jazz he was involved in ten recording sessions between 2005 and 2012, including a. also with John DeLucia , Jeremy Udden, Rob Mosher , John Ecreet , Harris Eisenstadt . Stevenson, who has also written music for several short, documentary and feature films (including Tracks (Director: John Curran , 2013), Ten Thousand Saints (2015) ), lives in New York City.
