Petr Ruman (born November 2, 1976 in Přerov ) is a former Czech football player and current coach .

Career

Ruman played in his youth for PS Přerov and FC Baník Ostrava . In Ostrava he made the leap into the professional squad in the 1993/94 season. In 1997 the storm was loaned to VP Frýdek-Místek , after which it returned to Baník Ostrava.

From 1999 to 2005 Ruman played for SpVgg Greuther Fürth . In the 2003/04 season he contributed with 16 goals to the fact that the SpVgg did not relegate to the regional league. Ruman scored 38 goals in 168 games for the Franks.

After a failed move to 1. FC Kaiserslautern in 2004 , Bundesliga club 1. FSV Mainz 05 signed the Czech in summer 2005, who had previously scored four times for their feared opponents from Fürth in eight second division games against Mainz. In Mainz's first competitive game in the 2005/06 season, the 4-0 win against MIKA Ashtarak in the first-round first leg of the UEFA Cup qualification , Ruman scored 1-0. In his first Bundesliga season Ruman was one of Mainz's most successful goal scorers. From winter 2005/06 he fell out again and again due to several injuries, but fought his way back into the starting eleven in early 2007.

At the end of the 2006/07 season, Mainz 05 was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga. On the 9th match day of the 2007/08 season Ruman had his last second division appearance for Mainz: In the game against FC Erzgebirge Aue , he suffered a herniated disc in a collision with the opposing goalkeeper , so that he could only return to team training towards the end of the second half of the season. At the beginning of the 2008/09 season, an ISG blockade troubled him. Since he was only used in test matches and in the regional league team (three missions), he left 1. FSV Mainz 05 for the winter break and signed a contract with third division VfR Aalen for six months until June 30, 2009. He was able to play but not convincing and only played five games before he injured his knee on March 29, 2009 in a game against 1. FC Union Berlin and then did not play a game in the 2008/09 season.

With the descent of VfR at the end of the season in the Regionalliga Süd , his contract also became ineffective. Thereupon he ended his active football career because of persistent pain and devoted himself to setting up his own football academy for young people in Wörrstadt, Rhineland-Hesse .

From January to June 2010 Ruman was assistant coach at the U-17, from July 2010 head coach of the U-16 and from 2011 cotrainer of the U-19 of Mainz 05. From 2013 to 2014 he coached the U-19s of the FSV Frankfurt as well 2014 the U-21 of Kickers Offenbach . From 2015 he was the head coach of the junior performance center in Darmstadt 98 . For the 2018/19 season Ruman returned to SpVgg Greuther Fürth as coach of the U23 and assistant coach of the professionals . In the first main round of the 2018/19 DFB Cup , Ruman and Oliver Barth represented head coach Damir Burić , who was unable to attend due to a bereavement in his family.
