Petra Pascal
Petra Pascal (born December 21, 1934 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German chanson singer and presenter.
Life
After finishing high school, Petra Pascal worked as a social insurance clerk at the State Insurance Institute of Hesse (now Deutsche Rentenversicherung Hessen). Then she studied singing for 6 years and took music and ballet lessons . She took part in 5 international festivals and in the 1960s, initially under the stage name Mariett Sora, released a number of single records, including "Wenn Du geht, mon ami" and "Ohne dich", together with Hubert Wolf .
In 1969 Pascal's first long-playing record, “Contrasts”, was released. In the early 1970s she had some commercial success with chanson-like songs that were also played in the hit parades . Her greatest successes were That Was a Life , Raskolnikoff (1969), Like the Glass in My Hand (1971), Three Steps Forward and Two Backward (1972), and I'm Not a Morning Muffle (1979). Her concept album The Paradise Is Not Yet Lost (1974) was remarkable , on which she dealt with environmental protection and pollution and its consequences in 14 songs. The then Federal Minister of the Interior, Hans-Dietrich Genscher , took over the patronage of the work , who also wrote the foreword on the back of the LP.
Petra Pascal has been working primarily as a radio presenter and author since the 1980s . Her programs included: composer and artist portraits on HR 4, the ARD night express on HR and from 1991 on WDR 4 the programs "Café Carlton", which was discontinued at the end of 2006 due to a program reform, and the "Schellack-Schätze" which she designed several times a year until the beginning of 2012.
