Petran ( Albanian  also  Petrani ) is a village in the municipality of Përmet , Gjirokastra Qark , in southern Albania . The place Petran is located in the valley of the Vjosa , about seven kilometers south of the city of Përmet. The road from Përmet south to the Greek border and Leskovik passes through Petran.

Until 2015, Petran was an independent municipality with 1622 inhabitants (2011 census). According to local authorities for 2010, there were 3243 inhabitants in the municipality. Vjosa and village

At Petran the Lengarica River flows into the Vjosa on the right. A little further up in the Lengarica river valley at Bënja there are thermal springs , known as Banjat e Bënjës . There are some natural pools, but a touristic expansion is under discussion. Right next to it is a stone bridge from the 18th century, the Ura e Kadiut . Behind it the river valley narrows to a very narrow canyon . The 100 meter deep gorge is only a few meters wide over a long stretch. Thermal springs and the gorge are nature reserves, as is a cave nearby. Two pine forests are also protected areas, the large fir forest of Hotova-Dangell is even a national park.

The Lengarica power plant , which was commissioned in 2015, is located in the Lengarica Gorge .
