Petrus Bestebostel

Petrus Bestebostel (born August 24, 1572 in Stralsund , † March 6, 1624 in Greifswald ) was a German lawyer.

Life

Petrus Bestebostel was the son of Stralsund councilor Curd or Conrad Bestebostel and Anna Bavemann. After attending grammar school in Stralsund , he went to study law in Wittenberg . At the age of 24, he went to Heidelberg via Marburg and Cologne , where he received his doctorate in both rights. He gained practical experience at the Imperial Court of Justice in Speyer .

Returned to Stralsund in 1597, Bestebostel married Anna Husen (1582–1611), the daughter of the land rent master.

In 1600 he received the professorship of rhetoric in Greifswald. After the death of his first wife in 1613 he married Anna Osten, the daughter of a professor.
