Petrus Bodenheim (* before 1652 in Niederberg , now Erftstadt ; † November 29, 1688 in Niederehe / Vulkaneifel district ) was a canon of the Premonstratensian order , prior of the Niederehe monastery and pastor in Marmagen .

Petrus Bodenheim comes from Niederberg / City of Erftstadt. In 1652 he joined the convent of the Premonstratensian Abbey of Steinfeld / Kall-Eifel together with his brother Jacobus . The dates of his life are recorded in the Conventual Register of Steinfeld Abbey .

education

Before joining the order, he completed the so-called "Retorika", the 5th grade of the grammar school. He studied philosophy in Steinfeld, where this subject was taught to the novices by their master's degree in the monastery. It contained the curriculum of the two top classes of the grammar school, Logica and Physica. These two classes were already part of the artistic faculty at Cologne University . Successful graduation resulted in the bachelor's degree , which entitles them to further studies at the university. He studied theology in Cologne at the Collegium Norbertinum and at the university.

Act

Petus Bodenheim was ordained a priest in 1657 and celebrated his primacy on December 4th of the same year. He took up his first office in 1659 as novice master of the Steinfeld monastery.

In July 1661 the abbot transferred him to the priory of the Premonstratensian monastery in Dünnwald near Cologne . Here he became a submagister and looked after the local parish as a pastor.

At the proposal of the newly elected abbot in 1661 Johann Lückerath he was in 1662 for Cellerar selected. He initiated a pawn loan agreement with Werner Freiherr von und zu Pützfeld , which secured the abbot the right to present the pastor of Marmagen and was therefore of the greatest importance for the development of the monastery.

The Abbot von Steinfeld presented Petrus Bodenheim in 1673 as pastor of Marmagen . He administered the parish "effectively" and laid the foundation for a development that finally made Marmagen the monastery village of Steinfeld Abbey. Among other things, he founded a choir there , which performed music services and pilgrimage processions with singers and was rewarded for this.

On May 22, 1679 he was appointed prior of the Niederehe monastery. He died there on November 29, 1688.
