The Petzscher Mark was a corridor area in the north of Leipzig, east of the road to Halle and north of the Parthe . The name goes back to a deserted village called Petzsch.

Petzsch was first mentioned in 1287 as Bets under the manorial rule of the Weißenfelser Klarissenkloster , founded in 1284 . For the years 1454 and 1476 there are still entries relating to Petzsch in the Leipzig City Document Book. There are decisions of the council of the city of Leipzig on disputes in Petzsch and on sales relationships with the monastery in Weißenfels. Further information is missing. The desert corridor was combined with that of the former village of Pfaffendorf . 1862, the terrain to Leipzig was eingeflurt .

The Berlin train station of the city of Leipzig was built around 1858 on the site, which is now known as the Petzscher Mark, and existed until the main train station was completed. With the city expanding in the early days of the founding , mainly craft and small industrial companies emerged in the Petzscher Mark area.

In 1907 the Petzscher Strasse was named in memory of the village of Petzsch in the north-western part of the area.

In the urban development plan of the city of Leipzig, two industrial areas with so-called industrial area passes are included in the area of the Petzscher Mark, which now belongs to the Eutritzsch district : Petzscher Mark-Ost and Petzscher Mark-West . The entire area is delimited by Theresienstraße, Hamburger Straße and Berliner Straße as well as the Deutsche Bahn site in the west and is divided into the two parts by Wittenberger Straße. The main development goal is the preparation and subsequent use of fallow land.
