The Roman Catholic parish church of Aschau im Zillertal is located in the municipality of Aschau im Zillertal in the Schwaz district in Tyrol . It is consecrated to the title Maria vom Siege and belongs to the Deanery of Fügen-Jenbach in the Diocese of Innsbruck . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).

Location description

The parish church is on the main street in the center of Aschau in the Zillertal. To the west is the cemetery, to the south the widum is built directly onto the church.

history

The church was built between 1848 and 1850 and was made a parish church in 1891. The nave was extended by two bays in 1962 and 1963.

Church exterior

The church is a single-nave late classical hall building with a north tower and an attached parsonage. The north tower has an onion helmet from 1905 and 1910.

Church interior

The nave is two-bay with flat domes . The retracted square choir is also vaulted with a flat dome. The skylights are semicircular. The walls are divided by pillars. Above it is a continuous entablature . There are frescoes painted in the church. In the choir is the depiction of the "Elevation of the Cross" by Johann Endfelder from 1850, in the nave the Sacred Heart is depicted, as well as the "Rosary Donation" by Josef Haun from 1902. On the walls of the nave are frescoes depicting the " Visitation " , depicting the " birth of Jesus ", the " offering in the temple " and the " twelve year old Jesus in the temple ". They were painted by Josef Arnold the Elder in 1850 .

Choir with high altar

The high altar is classical . The altarpiece shows “ Mary of Victory ”, painted by Johann Mader in 1848. The picture is flanked by statues of St. Gregory and St. Augustine from the end of the 18th century. The side altars are also classical. The right side altar shows St. Mary Magdalene , the left picture shows St. Aloysius . They were painted by Caspar Jele around 1870 . The crucifix was documented by Johann Baptist Pendl in the 19th century. The pulpit with depictions of angels was built at the end of the 18th century.
