Johann Baptist Pendl (born June 22, 1791 in Aschau im Zillertal , † March 14, 1859 in Meran ) was a Tyrolean sculptor.

Life

After training with Franz Xaver Nißl and Franz Serafikus Nißl in Fügen  from 1803 to 1809 , he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Josef Klieber and Leopold Kiesling . He worked as an employee of Franz Anton von Zauner . In 1813 Pendl settled in Merano and worked mainly in wood. He is the father of Franz Xaver Pendl , and one of his students was Anton Kob .
