Franz Xaver Pendl (born May 5, 1817 in Merano ; † June 23, 1896 in Untermais , Merano) was a Tyrolean sculptor.

Life

After training with his father Johann Pendl , he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna from 1838 to 1842 under Josef Klieber  and Leopold Kupelwieser and worked in Johann Nepomuk Schaller's studio . From 1842 to 1846 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Konrad Eberhard, among others . From 1846 he worked in Meran, where he took over his father's workshop. He mainly created religious sculptures in the neo-Gothic  style.

His son Emanuel Pendl also became a sculptor.
