The interior of the church

The Roman Catholic parish church of Bildein is located on the northeast corner of the Angers of the village of Unterbildein in the municipality of Bildein ( Hungarian : " Beled ") in the Güssing district in Burgenland . It is consecrated to St. Vitus and belongs to the Deanery of Güssing in the Diocese of Eisenstadt . The church building is a listed building .

history

A parish already existed in Bildein in the Middle Ages. Today's baroque nave, west tower and volute gable were built in 1745. The exterior was restored in 1958, followed by a further restoration in 1968.

architecture

The church is a remarkable structure that resembles the Gothic churches of Eberau and Gaas . The recessed 5/8 choir is late Gothic and was built around 1500. The nave and the western facade tower are baroque. Above the two-bay nave and half of the gallery there is a square vault between belts that rest on flat pilasters . The three-axis gallery has a bulging parapet. The stucco decoration is baroque. A round arched triumphal arch separates the nave from the choir. Over the choir bay and the apse is a fine mesh rib vault with double-throat ribs. The choir vault is crowned by a coat of arms keystone and two disc keystones. The octagonal services rest on conical consoles . There are two tracery windows and a late Gothic sacristy door under a cantilever lintel .

Furnishing

The furnishings are high baroque. The high altar dates from the middle of the 18th century. The altarpiece is an oil painting and shows the martyrdom of St. Vitus. It was painted by a certain Brother Johannes. At the side between columns there are figures of Saints Peter and Paul . On the left and right of the wall there are statues of Saints Joseph and John Nepomuk on consoles . The left side altar consists of a two-storey column structure. The altarpiece shows St. Dominic in front of the Madonna. The top picture shows God the Father . On the side are two wooden sculptures of Saints Joachim and Anna . The pulpit is designed simply. There is also a Madonna on the left triumphal arch pillar, a wooden sculpture from the end of the 17th century. Possibly she was a pillar Madonna.
