The Roman Catholic parish church of Getzersdorf is located in the center of Getzersdorf in the municipality of Inzersdorf-Getzersdorf in the St. Pölten-Land district in Lower Austria . The church, consecrated to St. Michael the Archangel , belongs to the dean's office in Herzogenburg in the diocese of St. Pölten . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

It is assumed that a parish incorporated by the Göttweig Abbey was established around 1363. Today's simple, late baroque building with a west tower facade, built after 1750 , probably has a Gothic choir . In 1986 a restoration took place.

architecture

Exterior

The nave under a hipped roof has rounded corners and a simple facade structure with pilaster strips . The portal and an oval window are located in the basement of the tower. The tower structure has bell-shaped sound windows and an onion hood. A lower sacristy annex adjoins the three- eighth choir that has been drawn in on the same axis .

Interior

The two-bay nave with rounded corners and oblong square vaults on sturdy double pilasters with wide belt arches has a sweeping, sturdy dentic beam that continues around the choir. The retracted Vorhallenjoch carries a swinging gallery . The choir closes like a basket arch and has a pressed barrel vault.

Furnishing

The free-standing altar table has a tabernacle structure with a book with seven seals from the end of the 18th century. Behind it hangs the canvas painting Engelsturz , painted by Ferdinand Maurer (1785) , on the wall . There are the paintings Christ the Risen and Christ in Emmaus , painted by Romanus Jacobs (1914), and the left side altarpiece of Mary and Child , also by Romanus Jacobs (1943). The right side altar painting Crucifixion comes from the fourth quarter of the 18th century. The baroque hanging pulpit has a sound cover. The Stations of the Cross are from the 19th century.

The polygonal baptismal font is late Gothic, the baluster-shaped offering box is probably modern. The floor consists of Kelheim slabs from 1764.

The organ was built by Franz Meinl (1854).
