Parish Church of Gramais
The Roman Catholic parish church of Gramais stands on the southern edge of the village of Gramais in the Reutte district in Tyrol . It is consecrated to St. John the Baptist and belongs to the deanery Breitenwang in the diocese of Innsbruck . The building is a listed building .
history
A chaplaincy was established in Gramais in 1690, and in 1703 it became a curate . The previous building was rebuilt in the middle of the 18th century. The current church was built between 1824 and 1833 including the tower and was not consecrated until 1864. Until 1940 Gramais belonged to the Deanery Imst , since then it has been part of the Deanery Breitenwang.

- Exterior description
The church is a uniformly built, simple neo-Romanesque church building under a gable roof . The nave and choir are divided by arched windows. The tower to the east has a pointed gable helmet .
- Inside description
The nave is three-bay and has smooth corners. The triumphal arch is drawn in and ogival. The one-yoke choir closes at the 3/8 end. Nave and choir are barrel vaulted with stab cap. Johann Georg Buchauer painted the frescoes in 1896. The “Annunciation of Mary” as well as the Saints Barbara of Nicomedia and Francis of Assisi are depicted on the choir arch .
Furnishing
The high altar is a structure from around 1840. The altarpiece shows the "Baptism of Christ". It was painted by Franz Xaver Fuchs in 1888. The upper picture shows the Evangelist Johannes . It was painted at the beginning of the 19th century. The altarpiece is flanked by figures of Saints Joseph and Anthony from around 1730.
The altarpiece on the left side altar represents the “Heart of Jesus”, that of the right side altar the “Heart of Mary”. Both were painted in the style of Deschwaden . In front of it is a crucifix from around 1700. On the right side altar is a Pietà from the second half of the 18th century.
organ
The organ dates from around 1700 and was originally in the Holzgau parish church .
graveyard
To the west of the church is the Gramais cemetery, which was laid out in the second half of the 17th century and consecrated in 1689. It is surrounded by an enclosure wall and shows mostly wrought iron grave crosses. The funeral chapel is located in the sacristy annex south of the church. The cemetery cross from the end of the 18th century is on the war memorial from 1963 for the fallen in World War II.
