The parish church Kauns stands in the middle of the village surrounded by a cemetery in the municipality Kauns in the district of Landeck in the state of Tyrol . The Roman Catholic parish church , consecrated to Saint James the Elder , belongs to the Deanery Prutz in the Diocese of Innsbruck . The church and the war memorial are under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

A previous Romanesque building was replaced by a late Gothic church building at the end of the 15th century . The Romanesque tower was preserved. After a Baroque renovation, the church was officially consecrated in 1761. In 1886 and 1889/1901 the church was regotified. In 1891 the church was elevated to a parish church.

architecture

The Romanesque north tower stands on the fourth nave yoke and has coupled round arched sound windows, the tower was raised in 1892 and has a pointed gable helmet. The five-bay nave is followed by an equally wide one-bay choir with a five-eighth end .

Furnishing

Josef Bachlechner the Elder created the neo-Gothic high altar with the figure of the Heart of Jesus and a relief on the side of the calling and execution of St. James.
