The parish church of Klagenfurt-St. Josef-Siebenhügel stands on Siebenhügelstrasse in the Waidmannsdorf settlement in the St. Martin district of the municipality of Klagenfurt am Wörthersee in Carinthia . The Roman Catholic parish church consecrated to St. Joseph of Nazareth belongs to the dean's office of Klagenfurt-Stadt in the diocese of Gurk-Klagenfurt . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

The place Waidmannsdorf as a so-called Siebenhügel was mentioned in a document in 1151. In 1933 an emergency church was established with the Salesians of Don Bosco . In 1951 a new church was built according to plans by the architect Walter G. Mayr. In 1952 the church became a branch of the parish church Klagenfurt-St. Martin consecrated. In 1959 the branch church was elevated to a parish church. In 1986 the outside of the church was restored.

architecture

The west-facing church building without a tower is structurally connected to the rectory to the west.

The transept-like high porch on the nave has an open arcade hall. The choir has a straight ending. The church has arched windows and triple windows in the choir.

The interior of the church shows a tram-beam ceiling in the nave and a coffered ceiling in the choir. The music gallery is bricked up. Max Spielmann created the glass painting on the subject of the Lord's Prayer in 1961/1962. The wall relief was created by Josef Staud from Tyrol, in the choir monumental with stucco Christ breaking the bread, on the triumphal arch wall on the left St. Maria with the hll. Don Bosco , Dominikus Savio and Hemma von Gurk with Maria Goretti , on the triumphal arch wall on the right St. Josef with working people and family.

Furnishing

Josef Staud also created the Stations of the Cross out of baked clay on the south wall of the nave, the stone relief on the people's altar with scenes from the Old Testament, the filigree cross above the tabernacle. The enamel work on the tabernacle was created by the goldsmith Josef Kölblinger . The stone Pietà under the gallery was created by the sculptor Karl Rippl in 1960. The Lenten cloth was created by the painter Karl Bauer in 1961.
