The Lofer parish church is located in the center of the market town of Lofer in the Zell am See district in the province of Salzburg . The parish church , consecrated to Saints Maria and Leonhard , belongs to the Saalfelden deanery of the Archdiocese of Salzburg . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

The years 1315 to 1335 were assumed for the construction of the Gothic church. The church was first mentioned in documents in 1417. The side aisles were added in 1678. After a fire in 1731, the tower was rebuilt with the architect and builder Tobias Kendler. 1954 was a restoration. The church was elevated to a parish church in 1955.

The Gothic church building was expanded in baroque style and received a new tower after a fire.

The simple exterior under a gable roof covered with shingles shows round-arched windows on the side aisles, the recessed choir with a polygonal end shows ogive Gothic windows. In the north, at the head of the left aisle, there is an undivided tower of the same width, the tower windows have a baroque frame, the double onion helmet mentions 1732. In the south, on the head of the right aisle, there is a two-storey sacristy. The western gable front with a crippled hip has rectangular portals from the 17th century, the central portal shows the coat of arms of Archbishop Max Gandolf von Kuenburg from 1678, to the right of it the western front shows the wall painting Schutzmantelmadonna by the painter Karl Weiser in 1954.

The interior of the church has a three-aisled nave. The four-bay nave, the fourth bay is raised on the floor by four steps, has a mesh rib vault with curvatures and ribs which were renewed in 1897, the ribs are on semicircular services with simple capitals. The three-bay side aisles have a baroque groin vault with stucco mirrors. The triumphal arch is ogival. The choir with a five- eighth closure has a walled-in axis window with Gothic tracery on the head of the choir, the choir has portals with chamfered door frames with a straight lintel, in the north to the tower, in the south to the sacristy, above the vestibule portal is an oratory window.

Gothic wall paintings show next to the tower portal the saints Crescentia, Vitus and Modestus from the first fifth of the 15th century, in the choir vault symbols of the evangelists and Mary with child from the second half of the 15th century. The ornamental glass windows name the glass painter Philipp Aichinger 1872.

Furnishing

The neo-Gothic high altar was created in 1901 by the carver Vinzenz Pezzei, it carries figures from the workshop of Josef Bachlechner , the wing paintings were painted by Josef Gold in 1905 . The side altars around 1730 are columned aedicules with straight entablature and a curved extension, the left side altar bears the figure of Maria Immaculate and shows the top image of Antonius and the side figures of female saints and Anna, the right side altar bears a crucifixion group with a kneeling Maria Magdalena Side panels Maria and Johannes, in the essay God the Father. Left and right in the church there are two statuettes of the church fathers by the sculptor Michael Bissl around 1800.

The stoup and the red marble offering are from the second half of the 17th century.

The organ was built by Albert Mauracher in 1892 .
