The Roman Catholic parish church Poggersdorf in the same community is the Holy James the Elder ordained (Hl. Jakobus major). The church was first mentioned in 1616 as a branch of Tainach and in 1778 it was made a parish.

Building description

The core of the church comes from the 12th / 13th centuries. Century and was changed in the course of Gothic and Baroque . The late Gothic choir tower was built around 1550 and has a belt sime, ogival sound windows and a stone-plate-roofed pyramid helmet. A two-storey sacristy is attached to the south side of the tower, which is also the choir . In the east there is a two-lane, Gothic tracery window , the other windows have been baroque. The western porch is adorned with diamond cuboid decor from the early 17th century. The coat of arms of the Völkermarkt provost Dr. Johann Franz I. Gentilotti from 1626 attached, a presumably Gothic head relief above the narrow, profiled, pointed arched church portal. Next to the church portal is an offering table (altar). The following Roman spoils are walled in on the church: a relief fragment with acanthus ornament next to the church portal, on the northwest corner of the nave under the eaves an inscription for Tiberius Julius Quartus and Matrona, on the northeast corner of the tower a rim fragment and a small fragment of a Roman-era grave inscription .

In the entrance arbor is the well-preserved and artistically designed Slovenian tombstone of the priest Valentin Božič, who was in office in Dolina at the time of the apparition of Mary . The four-bay nave is vaulted with a baroque needle cap barrel that rests on pillars. A lower Romanesque triumphal arch connects the nave with the choir square, which has been raised by two steps and is equipped with a Gothic diamond-shaped rib vault with a coat of arms keystone.

Facility

The high altar from 1754 was taken from handles by Anton Langpart. In the niche is the figure of St. James the Elder, flanked on the inside by the Apostle Princes Peter and Paul and on the outside by Saints John Nepomuk and Erasmus . The top picture shows a Maria Immaculata , next to it are the statuettes of Saints Francis and Rochus . The conclusion is the plastic representation of the Holy Trinity .

The two side altars date from the 17th century, but were renewed in the 18th century. On the left altar there is a statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus from 1917, next to it the neo-baroque figures of Saints Matthew and Anthony of Padua , in the essay by the apostles John . Next to the altar is the statue of St. Matthias . On the right altar is a statue of the Heart of Mary from 1917 as well as the neo-baroque statues of Maria Magdalena and Johannes Ev. to see. The group of figures in the essay represents the teaching of Mary.

The basket of the pulpit made around 1900 is used as an ambo . On the west wall hangs a votive picture from 1873 depicting St. Ursula with the Slovenian inscription: “sv. Ursula DM, izprosi nam srečno zadnjo uro “(Please for our happiness in our last hour). The tombstone of Leonardus Potlich Zelosus from 1737 is attached to the same wall.
