Parish Church Strem
The Roman Catholic parish church Strem is in the center of the municipality Strem ( Hungarian : Strém ) in the district of Güssing in Burgenland . The parish church consecrated to St. Anthony of Padua belongs to the Deanery Güssing in the Diocese of Eisenstadt. The church is a listed building ( list entry ).
history
The church was built in 1852 in the classical style. The church has been an independent parish since 1877. Restorations took place in 1952, 1959 and 1976 (exterior renovation).
Building description
The church is a single-nave building with a retracted choir with a 3/8 end. It also has a facade tower with a pointed helmet connected to the south. The facade is divided into pockets.
Inside the church is a two-bay hall building. There is a square vault between belts resting on strong pilasters . There is also half a gallery yoke. The gallery is three-axis and has a bulging parapet. The church is decorated with stucco decoration. A round arched triumphal arch separates the nave from the choir. There is a square vault in the choir yoke. In the apse there is a cap vault between belts that rest on pilasters.
Furnishing
Most of the furnishings date from the mid-19th century. The altarpiece on the apse wall shows Saint Anthony of Padua. It was painted by J. Rath in 1853. The wooden figures on the side represent Saint Roch and Saint Sebastian . They were created at the end of the 18th century. On the left wall of the Chorjoch there is a picture of a Pietà . This was painted by J. Rath in 1853 and was transferred from the former side altar to the current location. The pulpit dates from the second half of the 18th century. There are angel figures on the sound cover .
