The church hll. Philipp und Jakob is the Roman Catholic parish church of the Stiwoll parish in Styria .

history

The exact construction time of the church is unknown. The nave has an early Gothic core. The choir was built in 1422. In 1445 the church, which previously belonged to the parish of Sankt Pankrazen, became an independent parish. The current church tower was added in 1539. The church has been incorporated into Rein Abbey since 1607 . The building was restored in 1789 and between 1971 and 1972.

The steeple with a pointed helmet stands in the axis of the nave in front of the west facade. A pointed arch portal leads through the tower ground floor into the church. In the bell floor there are three bells, one from the 13th century, one from 1555 and one from 1690.

The four-bay nave has a barrel vault with lancet caps resting on set wall pillars . The equally wide, one-bay choir with a star rib vault is raised by three steps and has a five-eighth end . At the end of the choir is the date "1422". The front arch is poorly developed and bears an inscription indicating that it was renovated in 1789. In the west of the church is the 18th century gallery with a swinging parapet. The sacristy and the Baroque oratorios above are located in an extension north of the choir.
