Philemon "Phil" Ofosu-Ayeh (born Schlueter , born September 15, 1991 in Moers ) is a German - Ghanaian soccer player . He is under contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers .
Life
Ofosu-Ayeh was born as the son of the Ghanaian Peter Ofosu-Ayeh and his German wife Manuela, geb. Schlueter, born in Moers. He grew up first in Duisburg-Homberg and from the age of two in Wilhelmshaven , where his mother remarried after separating from his biological father. Thus Ofosu-Ayeh received a German stepfather who treated him like a biological son. As Phil Schlueter, he ran under his mother's maiden name from the age of eleven until January 2011, but then took up - as a commitment to his African roots and to his Ghanaian father, from whom, after initially loose contact, he only returned to his 18. Had heard something on his birthday - his last name.
Career
Ofosu-Ayeh began his career at VfL Wilhelmshaven and moved to city rivals SV Wilhelmshaven in summer 2005 . After two years in the SVW's B youth team, I switched to the VfB Oldenburg A youth team . There he became a service provider and consequently returned to SV Wilhelmshaven in July 2009. where he joined the U23 squad at the beginning of the season; This was followed in November 2009 by a nomination for the regional league team. Here he made his debut in the same month in a 2-2 draw against Goslarer SC 08 . In the 2010/11 season, the right-back, who is actually a trained striker, was a regular in defense and made 26 appearances. On May 18, 2011 Ofosu-Ayeh announced his move to FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt . Since he had skipped training to sign the contract, he was suspended by the SVW and not used in the last two games
For Erfurt he made his debut in professional football in the Thuringian derby against FC Carl Zeiss Jena on July 23, 2011. In the third division he took over the position of right defender as a regular player in the second half of the season and made a total of 27 missions.
In July 2013 Ofosu-Ayeh moved to league competitor MSV Duisburg , where he signed a one-year contract. In the course of the following 2013/14 season he developed into a high performer in the completely re-composed team of the second division relegated and drew attention to himself with good performances.
In the summer of 2014 he switched to the second division club VfR Aalen , where he became a regular player and made 32 appearances. In the DFB Cup, Ofosu-Ayeh reached the round of 16 with the team and was eliminated from Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim . After relegation in 2015, he left the club for lawn games from Aalen after his first season. He moved to Eintracht Braunschweig and signed a contract that ran until 2017. In these two years he played 36 second division games and four games in the DFB Cup . With Eintracht from Braunschweig, he also made it to the round of 16 in 2015 and only failed there after extra time against Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart .
In the summer of 2017, he moved to Wolverhampton Wanderers . For the English second division side, however, he did not play a game in the 2017/18 EFL Championship due to a serious calf injury , but only played five times for the U-23 team in the Premier Reserve League . The first team made it to the Premier League and Ofosu-Ayeh moved back to Germany.
At the end of August 2018, Hansa Rostock announced that they had signed Phil Ofosu-Ayeh on loan. He made his competitive debut for the Hanseatic League and his first goal for the Kogge on September 9, 2018 in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Cup against SG Warnow Papendorf. Ofosu-Ayeh made the third division debut for the Ostseestädter on September 25, 2018 in the 75th minute at the home game against Preußen Münster . The right-back and Hansa Rostock terminated the contract by mutual agreement at the end of January 2019. Ofosu-Ayeh made five third division appearances in Rostock.
His mother club Wolverhampton Wanderers then loaned the defender to the Würzburger Kickers without returning to England until the end of the 2018/19 season . Thus this remained in the third division.
Ghanaian national soccer team
In January 2011 Ofosu-Ayeh decided to play for his father's homeland, Ghana. On April 7, 2011, he was nominated for the U-20 national team of Ghana for the first time . His debut was prevented by those responsible at SV Wilhelmshaven because the club refused to allow the international match. On October 14, 2015, he made his debut in the Ghanaian senior team in a friendly against Canada .
