Philipp Adam Ulrich

Philipp Adam Ulrich (born May 24, 1692 in Lauda ; † November 8, 1748 in Würzburg ) was a German legal scholar and agricultural reformer.

Ulrich obtained his doctorate in law at the University of Würzburg in 1712 and later worked there as a full professor of (civil) rights and councilor . However, he became known for his agricultural experiments. Ulrich established the potato as a forage plant and grew it on the agricultural model estates Herleshof and Wöllriederhof . In addition to growing potatoes, he also introduced growing clover.

Philipp Adam Ulrich died on November 8, 1748 and was buried in St. Peter and Paul . Several streets in the Würzburg region are named after him.
