history
The name Herleshof probably goes back to the Franconian aristocrat Herilind ', who also founded the nearby village of Herlheim around the year 700. Initially, the farm was Vorwerk for Herlheim, possibly even the mother settlement of the place was there. The farm was first mentioned in 1225 as "Herrozen". At that time, the Würzburg Abbey handed over St. Stephan to the Vogt Engelhard and his son, and in 1231 the Vogtei came to the Heidenfeld Monastery near Schweinfurt.
Between 1303 and 1313 Otto von Heidingsfeld acquired the Herleshof, in 1312 the "hove zu Harrazze" was mentioned in a document from the Würzburg bishop Andreas von Gundelfingen . In the Volkacher Salbuch the farm appears as "Herreshove", the then owner Hans Zinck built a new barn there. In 1501, the Henneberg Truchsessen received the farm from Bishop Lorenz von Bibra , and when the family died out in 1643, the farm again changed hands.
Then the Lords of Buttlar acquired the Herleshof. In 1694, the Würzburg Monastery exchanged the court with the Bamberg Cathedral Provost von Guttenberg. In 1717 the Counts of Schönborn bought the farm. They are still in his possession today, at times he was administered from the Gaibach estate. The farm has not been inhabited since 1972, but is classified as a Kolitzheim district.
