Philipp Ernst Maria zu Hohenlohe-Waldenburg-Schillingsfürst , also called Philipp Ernst zu Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst (born June 5, 1853 in Schillingsfürst ; † December 26, 1915 in Bad Reichenhall ) was the first President of the German Olympic Committee in 1896 . From 1901 to 1915 he was head of the Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst family .

Life

Prince Philipp Ernst was the eldest son of Imperial Chancellor Prince Chlodwig zu Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst (1819-1901) and Princess Marie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein -Berleburg (1829-1897), but, unlike his brother Alexander, is Prince zu Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst (1862 –1924) did not emerge politically.

In addition to the administration of the small estate Schillingsfürst, he devoted himself particularly to the expansion of the Podebrad spa on the Bohemian rulership of the same name, which his first wife had brought into the marriage. Prince Philipp was the first President of the German Olympic Committee.

Prince Philipp Ernst zu Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst died on December 26, 1915 in Bad Reichenhall. He was 62 years old. As a result of his death, his brother Moritz became the head of the family and the Prince of Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst.

Prince Philipp Ernst married Princess Chariclée Ypsilanti (1863–1912), heiress of Poděbrady Castle , on January 10, 1882 in Vienna . Prince Philipp Ernst and Princess Chariclée had two daughters:

  • Stephanie, Princess of Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst (born September 23, 1882 in Schillingsfürst ; † September 23, 1882 ibid),
  • Maria, Princess of Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst (born August 7, 1886 in Podiebrad; † January 19, 1897 ibid)

After the death of Princess Chariclée, he married Henriette Gindra (1884–1952) on August 6, 1913 in Edinburgh , from 1914 wife of Hellberg. The couple had a son:
