Philipp Hess (officer)

Philipp Hess (born January 19, 1845 in Prague , † November 8, 1919 in Vienna ) was an Austrian officer and military technician .

Life

Philipp Hess, who was born in 1845 as the son of a major , joined the Genieregiment 1 as a sub-lieutenant in 1863 and, after participating in the war against Prussia and taking part in the Battle of Königgrätz , joined the Technical Military Committee in 1869 . From 1870 to 1872 Hess attended the chemical-technical college at the Technical University in Vienna as a listener . From 1872 to 1884 he taught science at the kuk war school . In 1884 he was appointed president of the commission for testing the explosives permitted in Austria-Hungary .

Philipp Hess died in Vienna in 1919 at the age of 74.

Act

Philipp Hess, who was regarded as an excellent demolition technician , was the founder of headlights and signals in the Kuk Army and the first head of the Austrian military airship system. In 1912, Hess was retired.
